Want an opponent? Play a ranked Infected duel
How to play
Infected gives you two Call of Duty pros: the one you start on and the one you have to reach. You get there by naming players, and every name has to have shared a roster with the last one you named. Start on the first player, name somebody they played alongside, then somebody that player played alongside, and keep going until you arrive at the target.
There is no guess limit, because the chain is the score: a shorter chain is a better one. A name that never shared a roster with the player you are standing on is rejected and costs you nothing but the attempt.
How the connections work
A connection means the two players appeared on the same roster for the same team — not that they played the same event, or played for the same organisation years apart. The graph behind it is built from the roster history of competitive Call of Duty, and it is dense enough that every player in it can be reached from every other — there is no pair the game can deal that has no route between its ends.
Every pair the game deals has a route through that graph, and most have a short one. Par is usually three steps, which is the shortest chain that exists between the two ends — find a route in three and there was no better answer to find.
The daily and the unlimited version
The daily deals from a hand-picked list, chosen so that both ends are names a fan will recognise and the route between them is findable. Everyone gets the same pair on the same day.
Infected is also the one game in the suite that does not run out. Supporters can keep pulling fresh pairs all evening: replays are dealt from a far wider pool than the daily list — every pair that clears the same recognisability bar and is at least three steps apart — in an order that never gives you the same pair twice in a day. The daily is always the board you start on, whatever you played yesterday.
When you are stuck
A way out appears once a run has genuinely stalled — either three steps past par, or after four names in a row that turn out never to have shared a roster with the player you are standing on. Taking it shows you the chain rather than taking anything away.
Tips
Aim for hubs, not for the target. Long-serving players on famous rosters connect to almost everyone, so reaching one of them usually puts you a step from anywhere.
Think in rosters rather than in players. Recalling an entire four-man lineup gives you three candidate steps at once, where recalling a single name gives you one.
Play a day you missed
Every daily since 1 August 2026 is still playable in the archive. A past board keeps its own progress, so it never disturbs the one you are playing today. Opening one is a paid supporter perk; today’s puzzle, and every camo you earn on it, stays free.
Questions
- Do I need an account?
- No. Every daily is playable signed out, and your progress is kept in your own browser. Signing in carries your streak and your earned camos between devices.
- Is everyone playing the same puzzle?
- Yes. The puzzle is derived from the calendar date, so everyone playing on the same date gets the same one. The date is your local one, so it changes at your midnight rather than at a fixed hour worldwide.
- Something missing or wrong?
- The Discord is the place to say so. Rosters, spellings and results all come from data that can be out of date or plain wrong, and it gets fixed when someone points at it.
- Can I play a puzzle I missed?
- Yes, if you support the site. Every past daily back to 1 August 2026 is kept in the archive and opens on a board of its own, so it never disturbs the one you are playing today.
