Contexto

Guess today’s COD pro. Closeness is based off era, teammates, role, region and more. The lower the number, the closer you are.

How to play

Contexto gives you one competitive Call of Duty pro to find, and no limit on the guesses it takes. Name any player and the game answers with a single number: their rank against the answer, where 1 is the player you are looking for and the largest number in the pool is the furthest anyone can be.

You cannot lose. There is no guess budget and no timer — a bad day costs you a bigger number on the share card and nothing else, which is why this is the game most people come back to.

How closeness is worked out

The number is not a measure of how good a player is, and it is not alphabetical or chronological. Every pro in the pool is scored against the answer on the things that actually put two careers next to each other: the eras they played in, the rosters they shared, the role they played, the region they competed in, and the events they turn up at together.

That ranking is computed ahead of time, from the full roster history of the scene, and then frozen — so the ordering is the same for everyone and cannot shift underneath a run. In practice a rank in single digits means a direct teammate or an obvious contemporary, the low hundreds means the right era and region, and a very large number means you have named someone from a different decade or a different scene entirely.

Killstreaks

When a run stalls you can call in intel, and pay for it in score. Three killstreaks, each unlocking on its own guess count rather than on the one before it — call them in any order once you have the guesses for them.

A UAV unlocks at five guesses, costs five, and reveals the answer’s region. A Hellstorm unlocks at fifteen, costs fifteen, and gives the years they were active. A Nuke unlocks at thirty, costs thirty, and gives the first letter of their name — just the letter, since padding it out would leak how long the handle is.

Your final score is guesses plus whatever the streaks cost. Nothing is free, but nothing is locked behind another either.

Who is in the pool

The pool is competitive Call of Duty: Call of Duty League starters and the CWL and MLG names before them. The answer is always a player with enough of a career behind them to be findable — you should never lose a day to somebody nobody has heard of — while the guess list is wider, so naming a fringe player to triangulate an era is a legitimate move.

Once you have found the answer, the game shows their crossovers: the players they actually shared a roster with, which is usually where the ranks you were closest on came from.

Tips

Open wide rather than narrow. Two players from opposite eras tell you more than two guesses from the same roster, because the first pair of numbers is what tells you which decade you are in.

Then follow the rosters. When a guess comes back close, name the people who played beside them — shared rosters are the heaviest thing in the ranking, so a teammate of a close guess is usually closer still.

Play a day you missed

Every daily since 1 August 2026 is still playable in the archive. A past board keeps its own progress, so it never disturbs the one you are playing today. Opening one is a paid supporter perk; today’s puzzle, and every camo you earn on it, stays free.

Questions

Do I need an account?
No. Every daily is playable signed out, and your progress is kept in your own browser. Signing in carries your streak and your earned camos between devices.
Is everyone playing the same puzzle?
Yes. The puzzle is derived from the calendar date, so everyone playing on the same date gets the same one. The date is your local one, so it changes at your midnight rather than at a fixed hour worldwide.
Something missing or wrong?
The Discord is the place to say so. Rosters, spellings and results all come from data that can be out of date or plain wrong, and it gets fixed when someone points at it.
Can I play a puzzle I missed?
Yes, if you support the site. Every past daily back to 1 August 2026 is kept in the archive and opens on a board of its own, so it never disturbs the one you are playing today.
